I'm Drew Phillips—a Tucson small business owner and part-time engineering student. I own and operate Unepic Networks and Tucson Home Repair Pro, bringing an engineering mindset to dependable technology infrastructure, practical field work, and every problem in between.

Pima Community College · 2020—Present

Pre-Engineering

After completing two trade programs and building a career around practical problem-solving, I knew I was capable of more. During the pandemic, I decided it was time to fully engage with higher education and returned to Pima Community College to pursue an associate degree in pre-engineering.

I have completed 49 credits toward a 60-credit Associate of Science pathway in Pre-Engineering. My coursework includes Problem-Solving and Engineering Design, General Chemistry, Computer Programming for Engineering Applications I and II, and the full calculus sequence through Vector Calculus. Completing Vector Calculus—Calculus III—has been my proudest academic accomplishment thus far and a meaningful measure of how far I have come.

I currently attend classes part time while operating Unepic Networks and Tucson Home Repair Pro. My remaining program work is concentrated in physics 1 & 2, an additional engineering elective, and transfer preparation. After completing my associate degree in May 2028, I plan to continue taking engineering and mathematics courses at Pima before transferring fully to the University of Arizona.

As artificial intelligence makes it easier to produce code without fully understanding it, I believe the need is only growing for trained software engineers who can reason about architecture, correctness, reliability, and long-term maintainability. My background in IT, web development, and hosting, combined with a formal engineering education, will make me a uniquely practical and in-demand software engineering professional.

Pima Amateur Radio Club

I was one of two students who founded the club. I began as vice president, later served as treasurer, and now serve as president. My time as treasurer gave me responsibility for keeping the club's books organized and tracking donations from supporting organizations including the ARDC and Oro Valley Amateur Radio Club—work that remains part of how I lead. As president, I coordinate with students and faculty advisors, organize meetings and events, and help lead completion of our fully operational amateur radio station, the K7PCC ham shack at Pima's Northwest Campus.

I own and operate Unepic Networks, a focused IT and hosting company where my responsibilities span customer support, billing, monitoring, custom applications, and critical infrastructure. I manage Windows environments, Debian systems, several other Linux distributions, and Dell Hyper-V hosts across a distributed five-location environment.

My business partner and I have built a long record of responsive support and reliable service while growing a strong client base. We are a small, scrappy company with the agility of a close-knit team, delivering uptime and service standards that compete with much larger hosting providers.
